The track leading to the racecourse for the first meeting of the new season yesterday was in very poor condition to say the least.
There have always been giant potholes in certain places but they used to be avoidable by careful driving, but yesterday the situation was worse than ever.
The holes in the track have seemingly become more cavernous and deep than in previous years with the result that it must only be a matter of time before vehicles are badly damaged.
One hundred yards from the entry position to the course is now a game of snakes and ladders - if the first two massive holes don't get you then the third will!
Such an unwelcoming mess is not a great advertisement for the sport, to say the least and some remedial work needs to be carried out - sooner rather than later.
Spot on. Wasn't the driver yesterday but we managed to find two serious holes and was amazed there was no noticeable damage.
The upshot being we agreed we would head to Alnwick rather than Larkhill in a fortnight's time.
